Internship Opportunities

An internship in my office provides a great opportunity for students to learn first-hand how our government works. Interns gain valuable knowledge and experience by having hands-on opportunity to learn about the legislative process, as well as the operations of a Congressional office.

High School Students

Congressional Art Competition
Every year, Members of Congress are allowed to display one piece of artwork by a high school student from their district in the U.S. Capitol for one year.  Congressman Adam Smith holds an annual judged art competition each year to select which art from the 9th Congressional District receives this honor.

STEM Competition
I am inviting all high school students from Washington State’s 9th  Congressional District to participate in the first annual Congressional Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Academic Competition, “The House STEM App Challenge.”

College Students

Young people who are genuinely interested in pursuing a career in the military service and who are looking to build a career foundation at one of our esteemed service academies are encouraged to open a file in our district office by sending a letter of interest.
