Military Families
Our military forces are engaged around the world and the rapid deployment of servicemembers (active duty, reservists and National Guard) is taking a tremendous toll on families in the South Sound. It is also causing a ripple effect in the rest of our community including small businesses, our local law enforcement officials and our local economy. South Puget Sound is feeling particularly hard hit by the call up of active duty and reservists from Fort Lewis and McChord.
I am proud to represent both bases, as well as the thousands of military retirees, veterans, military families, and reservists in our area. And as your Congressman, I am very concerned about the effect deployment has on our families and our communities.
During these difficult times, please look to me as a resource. I am always available to assist you in dealing with federal agencies and am happy to do whatever I can to be a source of information and assistance.
I have assembled a range of information on legal protections for servicemembers while they are abroad, benefits available to servicemembers and their families, education opportunities, military pay and witholding, and other support resources for you and your families.
