We already have many of the technologies needed to fight super pollutants. Given how harmful these super pollutants are on our environment, it only makes sense to use these existing technologies to reduce our emissions and slow climate change before it is too late.

Americans are seeing an uptick in the number of extreme weather events damaging our communities. We are also seeing an increase in their price tag. Globally, the amount of disaster-related assistance has quadrupled in the past three decades. With climate change, we know these disasters will grow in impact and in cost.

To get our economy back on track we should be figuring out more ways to help businesses as effectively as this Bank does instead of contemplating getting rid of an agency that creates jobs, grows businesses, contributes to deficit reduction, and supports our global competitiveness. It is imperative that Congress reauthorize the Export-Import Bank.

Access to an affordable college education for lower and middle income families has long been an essential part of the American story, including my own. I would not have been able to afford a college education had I not taken out loans and done work-study programs. As our economy continues to rebound from the worst recession since the great depression, we need to make higher education more affordable, not less.

Diversifying our military’s energy supply isn’t some pipe dream touted solely by the environmental community or ideological politicians; it is a top priority for military leaders who view it as a national security imperative that will improve mission readiness and save American lives. That alone is enough reason to earn the support of the American people and their government. But we know that this strategy will also bring significant economic benefits.
