Guthrie Backs Manufacturing Bill that will Boost Transparency, Reduce Permitting Delays

WASHINGTON, D.C.– Congressman Brett Guthrie today voted in support of H.R. 4795, the Promoting New Manufacturing Act.

“American manufacturing is an industry vital to growing our economy,” said Congressman Guthrie.  “These high-skill jobs are at the forefront of innovation and it is imperative that the laws and regulations governing manufacturers are up to code as well.”

H.R. 4795 will increase transparency and reduce permitting delays by publicly announcing timelines for permit decisions and the number of permits issued on an annual basis.  The bill will also require the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to issue timely guidance about how to comply with new or revised air quality standards that may affect the permit applications.

“We’ve seen many examples lately of the EPA vastly overreaching their authority in a number of areas.  H.R. 4795 will put power back in the hands of America’s manufacturers to continue to expand and innovate, giving them the certainty they need in the regulatory process in order to grow their businesses and create new jobs,” said Congressman Guthrie.

“This commonsense legislation will ensure American manufacturers have a clear path forward on future permitting decisions, and the opportunity to grow and succeed in the global marketplace,” added Congressman Guthrie.
