Congressional Art Competition

Each spring, Congresswoman Pelosi's office participates in an An Artistic Discovery, The Congressional Arts Competition. This year marks the 30th anniversary of this event, which showcases the talent of high school students from throughout the country.

The San Francisco Young at Art Festival continues its commitment as the long-term host for the district competition. Information and applications are been mailed to every high school in the district in March and April. The winner is announced and his or her artwork is displayed at the San Francisco Young at Art Festival.

The winning student from California's 12th District is invited to attend a reception in Washington, D.C. The event is an excellent opportunity to meet other similarly talented young artists and participate in the unveiling of their works.

The winning artwork will be displayed for a year in the United States' Capitol. Our 2014 winning artwork, Trees by Kai Lun Qu (pictured left), is currently on display in the Cannon Tunnel. This tunnel joins the Cannon House Office Building to the United States' Capitol, and gives visitors to the Capitol an opportunity to enjoy the exceptional artwork.

Each year, Congresswoman Pelosi looks forward to the Congressional Arts Competition and the wealth of new talent that will be on display. She urges all interested students to participate.
