As someone who grew up in Fate and Rockwall, Texas, I understand the important role that local farmers and ranchers play in our community. The 4th District has over 32,000 farmer operators, over 21,000 farms, and over 4,000,000 acres of farm land, according to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) 2007 Census of Agriculture report. That is why I am a longtime supporter of policies that will strengthen our Nation's agriculture and productivity.

I have continuously supported a permanent repeal of the death tax, as well as an increase in American energy production to drive down the cost of fuel and feed, and have always fought against burdensome environmental regulations that negatively impact farmers and ranchers. We must protect America's valuable agriculture jobs and their contribution to our economy.
