The Equity Scholarship

Eligibility: This four-year, merit-based scholarship provides an incentive for high-caliber African-American, Chicano/Latino, and Native American students to matriculate at UC Berkeley. Open only to prospective Cal freshmen who:
Minimum 3.0 unweighted GPA;
California residents, including those defined by the AB 540 guidelines;
Submit a UC Berkeley application for Fall 2014/Spring 2015 enrollment;Berkeley for enrollment in the Fall 2014 semester; Submit a Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) to UC Berkeley by May 1, 2014 for enrollment in the Fall 2014 semester.

Eligibility: Must be African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American or Hispanic American; a citizen, national, or legal permanent resident of the U.S.; have attained a cumulative high school GPA of 3.3 on an unweighted 4.0 scale or have earned a GED; will enroll for the first time at a U.S. located, accredited college or university (with the exception of students concurrently pursuing a high school diploma) in the fall of 2014 as a full-time, degree-seeking, first-year student; have demonstrated leadership abilities through participation in community service, extracurricular, or other activities; and meet the Federal Pell Grant eligibility criteria.

Additionally, applying students must have a GPA of at least three points (3.0) on a four-point scale and demonstrate a sincere aptitude for and pursuit of a career in aviation, aerospace technology or research. American Atheists Founders' Scholarship

Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation

Eligibility: Undergraduate juniors in the fields of public service and government with a 3.0 minimum GPA. Must be a U.S. citizen or a U.S. national from a Pacific Island. Preference given to students planning to attend graduate school and a career in government.
Award: Up to $30,000 for graduate study, attendance at the Truman Scholars Leadership Week, and entrance into the Summer Institute and Truman Fellows program following graduation.

The Getty Center Multicultural Undergraduate Internship Grant Program

(Students who are enrolled in a second BA or BS program are not eligible.) Applicants must reside or attend college in Los Angeles County and be a United States citizen or permanent resident.
Award: A 40 hour/week internship position at the Getty Center with a stipend of $3,500

ASM Undergraduate Research Fellowship (ASM-URF)

American Physical Society Minority Scholarship

Summer Research Diversity Fellowships

Fulbright-mtvU Awards

Eligibility: The Fulbright-mtvU Fellowship is a special opportunity for up to four U.S. students to pursue projects around an aspect of international contemporary or popular music as a cultural force for expression. Eligibility requirements:

U.S. citizenship at the time of application. Permanent residents are not eligible.

B.A. degree or the equivalent conferred before the start of the grant.

In the creative and performing arts, four years of professional training and/or experience meets the basic eligibility requirement.

Good health. Grantees will be required to submit a satisfactory Medical Certificate from a physician.

Proficiency in the written and spoken language of the host country sufficient to communicate with the people and to carry out the proposed study. This is especially important for projects in the social sciences and the humanities.

Preferred Qualifications:

Candidates who have undertaken their higher education primarily at educational institutions in the U.S. Undergraduate study abroad will not be considered a disadvantage.

Candidates who have not resided or studied in the country to which they are applying for more than six months, not counting undergraduate study abroad. Duty abroad in the Armed Forces of the United States is not considered disqualifying within the meaning of this section.

For most programs, applicants who have had extensive previous foreign experience in the host country are at a competitive disadvantage, but are still eligible to apply.

Award: Award covers monthly living expenses including housing, round trip travel to/from host country, and health insurance.

Friends of the California State Fair Scholarship

Eligibility: Awards are earned by college students and graduating high school seniors who exhibit academic excellence, leadership potential, civic engagement and a strong sense of personal commitment to continuing education. Recipients study a broad range of academic studies, which are reflected with awards in agriculture, animal science, arts, business, culinary, education, enology, event planning, fair industry, international studies, teaching credential programs, viticulture and past exhibitors of the California State Fair. Applicants must be California residents.

SCAG Scholarship Program

Eligibility:

Residency: Must be a resident within the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) region (i.e. Imperial, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, or Ventura County, or on Tribal Lands within the SCAG region), and be eligible to work in the United States

School Enrollment: Must be a high school junior or graduating senior, or currently enrolled in a two-year community college in the SCAG region. Graduating students must enroll in higher education (two- or four-year college or university) following graduation

GPA Minimum: Candidates must have a 3.0 grade point average or higher (based on a 4.0 scale)

Externship Requirement: Selected applicants must be available for a two-week externship with a local planning agency during the summer and attend a recipient's seminar in July at the SCAG offices in downtown Los Angeles

Externship assignments will be located near the student's place of residence and students are expected to be available during normal office hours for the two weeks

Stateside Spouse Education Assistance Program (SSEAP)

Eligibility: Applicant must be a spouse of an active duty or retired Soldier, and widow(er) of Soldier who died either on active duty or in a retired status, and residing in the United States. Supreme Court Judicial Internship

Eligibility: The Judicial Internship Program at the Supreme Court offers advanced undergraduates and graduating seniors who have interests in law, management, and social sciences a unique opportunity to gain exposure to the field of judicial administration through work in the Office of the Counselor to the Chief Justice. Interns work eight-hour days, five days a week. Thus, other employment is not feasible. Judicial Interns perform several routine but important office tasks, which include summarizing news articles and preparing memoranda and correspondence. Interns also conduct background research for speeches and briefings provided to visiting foreign dignitaries. Additionally, interns may participate in the diverse research projects conducted by the Supreme Court Fellow and the Counselor. These projects require interns to gather, assemble and synthesize information from a wide range of sources. Such assignments demand experience with office and library resources, the ability to work under time constraints, strict attention to detail, creative thinking, and editorial skills.

Award: The internship is unpaid. Depending on funding, a $1,000 scholarship may be available based on the following criteria:

1. Interns must successfully complete the internship.

2. Within one year of completing the internship, students must return to an undergraduate program or enroll in a graduate or professional degree program.

Eligibility: The Association on American Indian Affairs offers Displaced Homemaker Scholarships awards to men and women who would not otherwise be able to complete their educational goals due to family responsibilities. Applicants must be full-time students and provide proof of tribal enrollment, a Certificate of Indian Blood (showing 1/4 Indian blood) and an essay on educational goals. In addition, applicants must include their family responsibilities/situation in an essay. Some examples of displaced homemakers are listed below. Generally the term "displaced homemaker" refers to a woman or man who are a bit older - approximately 35+ who

has never attended college due to family responsibilities and are now entering college for the first time - their children may be entering elementary school or may be grown and out of the house or had attended college when they were younger but put school on hold to care for their children and never received their degree and are now returning to finish school.

Eligibility: High school junior or seniors interested in public service, leadership and currently serving in an elected capacity in student government. Also student representatives elected or appointed to district, regional or state-level civic or educational organization may qualify. Must be a permanent resident of the U.S. and currently enrolled in a secondary school located in the state in which either one of his or her parents or guardians legally resides.

Award: $5,000 one time college scholarship and an expense paid trip for a week to Washington D.C.

Deadline: Applications will be sent to high school principals, counselors, and scholarship coordinators late July.
