Internship Opportunities

Working in a Congressional office as an intern is an excellent opportunity to learn about public policy and government while gaining practical office experience. Internships are available in both the Stockton and Antioch offices, as well as in the Washington, DC office.

In the Washington, DC office, responsibilities include attending hearings, briefings, giving tours of the Capitol, responding to constituent inquiries, and helping process tour and flag requests. The responsibilities of interns in the Stockton and Antioch offices include researching constituent inquiries, helping staff with casework, and drafting correspondence. Interns in all offices assist with answering phones, distributing incoming mail, data entry, and general office duties.

Application Process

Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis throughout the year from college students and recent graduates. Applications from high school students are considered on a case-by-case basis for internships in the Stockton and Antioch offices. Although internships are unpaid, Congressman Mcnerney's office will work with programs that offer school credit.
