Visit Washington D.C.

Visiting Washington, DC is an exciting and educational experience. My door is always open to you, so please don't hesitate to stop by my office to visit with me and my staff. In addition, my staff can serve as a resource to you in booking tours for your trip. Below is information about two of the most popular tours as well as our "Welcome to Washington Flyer".  If you have any questions please contact my office at (202) 225-1492.

For all tour requests, please begin by filling out the Tour Request Form.

The White House

Once you have submitted your Tour Request Formthe next step is to complete the required White House Security Form, located below.  Please complete the security form and email it as an attachment to va11.requests@mail.house.gov.   Please note that the security form, as well as the request form, must be received before your request can be processed.

The United States Secret Service requires our office to collect security information for each person in your party prior to your arrival. If this information is not provided for an individual, that person will not be able to participate in the tour. Your information will only be used to process this tour request and will not be used for any solicitation or communication unless it is related to this tour.

Due to increased security procedures enacted since September 11th, it is very difficult to get tickets to tour the White House and slots are extremely limited.   While my office serves as the liaison between you and the White House, the approval or denial of a tour request rests solely with the White House.  My office has absolutely no role in the process other than submitting your request.

White House Tour Guidelines:

  • - Tours are not offered on Sundays, Mondays or Federal Holidays
  • - Requests must be submitted at least one month in advance and no more than 6 months in advance: You are encouraged to send your requests in as early as possible since a limited number of tours are available.
  • - Requests are considered on a first-come, first-serve basis, and the White House does not inform Congressional offices about the status of tour requests until two weeks before the requested tour date.

Please note, all tours are subject to cancellation due to occasional security shutdowns.

The United States Capitol

If you are interested in requesting a tour of the Capitol through my office, please begin by filling out the Tour Request Form.

General admission tickets for the United States Capitol are available Monday through Saturday on a first come first serve basis.  Tickets are distributed beginning at 8:00 am, and tours are conducted from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm.
