Albany

In the northwestern corner of Alameda County, Albany borders the cities of Richmond, El Cerrito and Berkeley. Incorporated in 1908, Albany’s population now totals more than 18,000 people and still enjoys the small-town ambience it has preserved for more than a century. The town is home to the popular commercial street of Solano Avenue, as well as the only racetrack in the Bay Area, Golden Gate Fields.

Albany has emerged as an example of environmentally-friendly municipal policies. The city’s efforts to preserve the Albany Mudflats and promote alternative transportation methods have defined Albany as a leader in sustainability.
