Tax Reform

Our federal tax code badly needs to be overhauled. Tax reform should focus on three principles: making our tax code fairer, flatter, and more efficient. Doing so will provide more certainty to small businesses and startup companies allowing them to expand and create jobs.

I strongly oppose raising taxes on hardworking Americans, especially during these challenging economic times. I was sent to Washington to protect our freedoms and to get the federal government out of the way. Not to take more money out of the pockets of business owners and families to fund out-of-control government spending.

Reforming our tax code will allow us to lower tax rates, promote economic growth, increase investment, and create more taxpayers. Unfortunately, our current tax code is outdated and places a tremendous and unnecessary burden on individuals, families, and small businesses.

In addition, our corporate tax rate is the highest in the developed world. This makes it more difficult for American companies to compete in a globalized economy and leads to jobs being shipped overseas.

During my tenure in the California State Assembly, and the California State Senate, I consistently opposed tax increases and I will do the same in Congress.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you.
