About | Map | Census Data
I am proud to represent the communities that make up the 2nd District. Not only is it one of the most beautiful parts of the country, but it was where I was born and raised.
Washington’s 2nd Congressional District is comprised of the whole of San Juan and Island Counties as well as the communities that line the I-5 corridor from Mountlake Terrace in the south, to Bellingham in the north. The 2nd District is one of the most scenic and diversified districts in the United States. Our landscapes start from the foothills of the Cascade Mountains into the valleys and river deltas along the Puget Sound and Salish Sea. Home to the third longest river on the West Coast of the United States, the district supports large migrations of shore birds in our deltas wetlands, beloved salmon returns, and the iconic bald eagle. The rivers of the district deposited large amounts of rich soils that contribute to some of the finest lands for agriculture in the country. Crops vary from small seed harvests to massive heads of cabbage. The berry producers in Whatcom and Skagit County produce raspberries, strawberries, and blueberries that are unrivaled in quality and taste.
The district’s proximity to the Pacific Ocean, major west coast economic centers, and trade partners like Canada has produced diversified economies throughout the region. The 2nd District is heavily dependent on trade, from major producers like Boeing to small manufacturers. Capitalizing on the regions wealth of a highly skilled workforce, more than 160 aerospace suppliers are producing parts for Boeing, and jobs for the region. Inspired by the excellent boating opportunities in the region and the districts fishing heritage, marine manufacturers throughout the district are producing next generation work boats, ships to fulfill the needs of the U.S. Navy, Coast Guard and the Washington State Ferry system, and recreational boats to tour the islands and to sample the harvest of the Puget Sound.
The 2nd District is proud to be home to the women and men of the United States Navy at both Naval Station Everett and Naval Air Station Whidbey Island.
