Steve King op-ed in Breitbart: Protecting the Constitutional Balance of Power from Executive Amnesty
President Barack Obama was right when he said on May 10, 2011, "sometimes when I talk to immigration advocates, they wish I could just bypass Congress and change the law myself.
Immigration enforcement has been under attack since our current president was sworn in, despite his constitutional oath requiring him to “take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed.” The systematic breakdown of immigration law enforcement under the Obama administration has wrought severe consequences.
After being drafted just two weeks ago, the USA FREEDOM Act is poised to overhaul how we investigate terrorism. From beginning to end, the consideration of this bill has been rushed, and it has lacked open debate. The draft was rushed over a weekend and it is now being considered on the floor under a closed rule to silence any potential debate.
The dishonest demonization of American agriculture is now, more than ever, poised to suck life out of our economy. On the other hand, Congress is poised to protect the millions of Americans who make their living putting food on our tables.
The farm bill is one of the most important pieces of legislation for our nation, and it significantly affects the people and producers of Iowa. I am honored to serve on the House Agriculture Committee and to represent the interests important to Iowa farmers and producers since coming to Congress in 2003.
“Immigration reform” is the catchphrase describing any potential law legalizing millions of illegal border crossers and visa-overstayers. “Comprehensive immigration reform” would combine legalization with enhanced border security, visa reform, and increased interior enforcement.
Washington has a spending problem.
It is a true statement with the federal government running annual trillion dollar deficits. And, it invites the question: What is Washington doing about it?
How can "comprehensive immigration reform" benefit our American children and grandchildren, who will prosper from or suffer the consequences of our decisions?
American immigration policy should be designed to enhance the economic, cultural and social wellbeing of Americans.
These words, "third-rate burglary attempt," were uttered by Nixon White House Press Secretary Ron Ziegler as he described the June 17, 1972 Watergate break-in. He also told reporters, "Certain elements may try to stretch this beyond what it is." As time would tell, the attempted robbery of the Democratic National Committee Headquarters was much more then it appeared.
