WASHINGTON, DC – This morning, Congresswoman Janice Hahn (CA-44) co-hosted the 62nd annual National Prayer Breakfast at the Washington Hotel, Washington, DC. She had the distinguished honor of introducing President Obama and delivering welcoming remarks along with her co-host, Congressman Louie Gohmert (TX-01) to a crowd of over 3,200 guests from 50 states and over 130 nations.

“For centuries, faith-based communities from all around the world have played a crucial role in guiding and strengthening our spiritual health and development,” said Congresswoman Hahn. “This remarkable breakfast provides a rare and special opportunity for leaders to come together, put aside our labels and divisions to unite in prayer and fellowship. I believe in the power of prayer and its ability to unlock doors and soften hearts. It was a humble honor to pray with the President, my congressional colleagues and world leaders in the spirit of Jesus,” Hahn added.

This year, Congresswoman Hahn invited Reverend Michael Fisher of Greater Zion church in Compton, CA to be her guest at the event. The members of the Greater Zion Church Family have a vision to unify families, communities and promote the peace, joy and love of God shown through Jesus Christ.

“It was an honor to join Congresswoman Hahn at the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington DC,” said Reverend Fisher. “When our nation’s leaders are willing to stop to ask the Father for guidance, it is evident that our country is still in good hands.”

The Prayer Breakfast is held annually in the nation’s capital, and provides an opportunity for political, community, faith-based and business leaders from all over the world to come together to pray and reflect upon issues facing the nation and the world. This annual event unites people from all walks of life and religious backgrounds under the spirit of prayer and faith.

President Obama and the First Lady were joined by Vice President, Joe Biden, keynote speaker USAID Administrator Rajiv Shah, author of “Soul Surfer” Bethany Hamilton and gospel singer Yolanda Adams to name a few guests at the head table.
