Working Together To Put the Middle Class First

Putting middle class families first is my top priority, and that’s why I will work with anyone, Democrat or Republican, if it is in the best interest of the people of our region.  I’ve taken steps to foster bipartisanship in Washington by calling through all the freshman members of Congress shortly after my election, attending a bipartisan National Day of Service project and being named a “Congressional Problem Solver” by the bipartisan No Labels group.  I pledge to continue to reach out and work with both sides of the aisle during my time in Congress.

Congresswoman Cheri Bustos (IL-17) gave a floor speech last night about the importance of bipartisanship and how the recent passage of a five-year Farm Bill out of the House Agriculture Committee was an example of what Congress can achieve by working together. Bustos was one of more than a dozen House members who have been labeled Congressional Problem Solvers by the bipartisan group No Labels who spoke on the floor last night.
