5. Effectively Implement the Affordable Care Act, to Insure Access to Healthcare
In 2010, President Obama signed the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act into law. This law, often called "Obamacare," is the strongest, most robust improvement made in our nation's healthcare system since Medicare was passed in 1965. The policies in the Affordable Care Act will allow more than 40 million Americans to finally have the opportunity to purchase affordable health insurance coverage. I am committed to working with the Obama Administration to provide materials to hospitals, small business owners and families in the San Fernando Valley, to make sure everyone I represent understands the opportunities in the new law, as well as the potential costs.
I have held events throughout the 29th Congressional District to help educate my fellow Californians and to learn what changes can be made to improve the law.

I will also work to encourage members of our community to sign up for the Health Insurance Exchanges that will allow the purchase of affordable, comprehensive health coverage. Please continue to visit my website for information and updates on the Affordable Care Act.
