Grassley Pushes for Independent Military Justice System Senator Grassley joined a bipartisan group of colleagues at a press conference to renew the push for passage of their bipartisan Military Justice Improvement Act. The legislation would remove the decision of whether to prosecute serious crimes such as sexual assault from military commanders, who have a lack of independence from both perpetrators and victims. False Claims Act: The Little Engine That Could Since passage of provisions sponsored by Senator Grassley, the federal False Claims Law has recovered nearly $45 billion in taxpayer funds which would have otherwise been lost to fraud. Just this year nearly $3 billion of that total is due to lawsuits filed under Grassley’s 1986 qui tam provisions of the False Claims Act.
