Flag Requests

My office can request that an American flag be flown over the United States Capitol on any day of the year. Accompanying a requested flag will be a certificate of authenticity from the Architect of the Capitol. The certificate includes the name of the person or organization for whom the flag was flown, the date and the occasion. The flag and certificate make great gifts for honoring special occasions and anniversaries.

To request that a flag be flown, please complete the order form below and print it out. Then, mail the order form along with a check for the correct amount made payable to The Keeper of the Stationery to the following address:

Attention: Flag Request
The Honorable Mark Pryor
255 Dirksen Senate Office Building
Washington, D.C. 20510

Due to increased security, mail screening and high demand, we ask that you send the flag request 4-7 weeks in advance of the date you wish the flag to be flown. Once we receive your check, the flag will be purchased and then given to the Architect of the Capitol's Flag Office. The Architect of the Capitol's Flag Office is responsible for flying the flag, printing the certificate and mailing the flag to the recipient. Please note that the processing and delivery of your flag may require another 4-6 weeks after the date of flying.

  • Every effort will be made by the Senate Flag Office to fly the flag on the date requested; however, due to high demand on certain dates it may not be possible in all cases. Some dates that have traditionally been in high demand include: New Years Day, Valentine's Day, Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, September 11th; Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving Day, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, President's Day, and Christmas Day.

  • Payment should be made in checks made out to "Keeper of the Stationary." Cash or blank checks will not be accepted.

  • Payment in the wrong amount will substantially delay the receipt of the flag.

  • Flag requests cannot be processed without payment

Who do I contact if I need more information or if I have a problem with my order?

Washington, D.C. Office - p: (202) 224-2353

How long do flags take to be received?

Plan for a minimum of two months between the order date and the date the flag is received.

What if I'm not from Arkansas?

If you are not from Arkansas, you will get your flag faster by contacting your home state Senator or your Representative.

Requests from Arkansas are always processed as our first priority.

What if I want the flag flown on a specific date?

If there is a specific date you would like the flag flown, you should plan to mail the check at least 4 weeks in advance.

What type of flag should I order (cotton/nylon)?

If the flag is going to be displayed indoors, choose a cotton flag. It looks nicer.

If the flag is going to be flown outdoors, choose a nylon flag. It is more durable.
