WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senators Bob Casey (D-Pa.) and Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) today praised the Senate's confirmation of Mark Kearney and Jerry Pappert as federal judges for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Mr. Kearney and Mr. Pappert were nominated by President Obama in June.

"I am pleased that the Senate has come together in a bipartisan fashion to confirm Mark Kearney and Jerry Pappert to the federal bench," said Sen. Casey. "Both of these newly confirmed judges are outstanding lawyers with extensive experience and excellent records. Mark Kearney has had a highly successful career as a trial attorney and as a managing shareholder of his law firm. Jerry Pappert's legal career as a federal litigator and as a former Attorney General of Pennsylvania has made him an excellent choice for the federal bench. I'm confident both will serve the Eastern District of Pennsylvania well."

"I am pleased that the Senate has confirmed Mark Kearney and Jerry Pappert as U.S. District Court judges for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania," said Sen. Toomey. "Both have enjoyed distinguished legal careers and have demonstrated strong commitments to serving their communities. I am confident that both Mr. Kearney and Mr. Pappert have the legal experience, acumen, and commitment to upholding the law that will make them excellent additions to the federal bench."

In the last three and a half years, Senators Casey and Toomey have worked together, in a bipartisan fashion, to recommend to the President accomplished jurists of high ability and integrity to preside in the federal courts of Pennsylvania. With Mr. Kearney and Mr. Pappert's successful confirmation coupled with Wendy Beetlestone's confirmation last month, they have now confirmed 13 Pennsylvania district court judges to the federal bench.
