Thursday, July 17, 2014
(US SENATE) – Today, Senators John Walsh and Jon Tester welcomed Great Falls student Michael Marler to the nation’s capital. Marler was selected to participate in the National Youth Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C., where he is learning leadership skills training and networking. Marler attends Great Falls Central Catholic High School. “Michael asked thoughtful questions that showed how engaged he is in his community,” Walsh said. “His interest in how our government works is remarkable. I know Montana will enjoy a bright future in the capable hands of young adults like Michael.”
“I’m glad that students like Michael have the chance to make it out to Washington,” said Tester, a former teacher. “Opportunities like these will help Montana students become the leaders of tomorrow, whether it’s in their communities, leading our state in Helena, or representing Montana in Washington.” Marler is in Washington, D.C. for theNational Young Leaders Conference (NYLC): Skills in Leadership for Change, a seven-day program for high school students. At this summer’s program, high school students from across the nation are meeting with their congressional delegations and learning skills to succeed in college and in future careers.
