My Home My Story
The movement to make flood insurance affordable
For more than a year now, I've been working to fix the deeply flawed Biggert-Waters Flood Insurance bill that Congress passed over my objections. Fixing this flawed piece of legislation is about building a future that Louisiana families can count on - where Louisianains can safely and affordably live where they need to work to power the country's economy, keeps commerce flowing and produce the products and manufacture the goods necessary for growth.
Below are just a few photos Louisiana families shared with me to say: This is #MyHomeMyStory. As a part of the #MyHomeMyStory effort, I asked those expecting or experiencing flood insurance rate hikes to send a photo of their home and their story. As you can see in the photos, this isn't about million dollar homes or beachfront properties.
This is about real middle class homes and real stories. I am grateful to share your photos so congress sees the real families who need this bill passed.
If you haven't yet, I hope you'll join this coalition by sending a picture of your home that is facing flood insurance rate increases by either emailing MyHomeMyStory@Landrieu.Senate.gov or tweeting a photo of your home with the hashtag #MyHomeMyStory to me, @SenLandrieu.
