Washington, D.C. Office Internships

I offer a three-month educational internship in my Washington, D.C. office designed for highly qualified students with an interest in the governing process.

The Internship Form is available in 2 versions:

The Spring Internship Session: January 19-May 15, 2015
***
The Spring Term Deadline: November 15, 2014***

The Summer Internship Session 1: May 25-July 3, 2015 / Session 2: July 6-August 14, 2015
***The Summer Term Deadline: March 1, 2015***

Priority is given to students either from Kentucky or students enrolled in a Kentucky school who have completed at least their sophomore year of college. You must be 18 years old by the start of your internship to apply.

The application must be submitted on or before the listed deadline, no exceptions.  Please send your cover letter, resume and completed application to with the subject: "Internship-desired session" (Example: Internship- summer 2015 session) to our Intern Coordinator, Justin Posey at Justin_Posey@paul.senate.gov or call 202-224-4343 for more information.

Although letters of recommendation are neither required nor expected, they can be mailed to our Washington office as well.

This is a highly competitive process. Due to the limited amount of space and resources available, there are usually more qualified applicants than positions available.

Our internship program is a rewarding experience for everyone involved, and I am enthusiastic about the number of young adults who wish to become involved in today's legislative process. An internship in the Washington office offers students the opportunity to observe the operation of the Senate and its interaction with the House of Representatives and the executive and judicial branches.

We offer a stipend, however, we also know that many students choose to participate in an internship for academic credit. Those students who choose to receive academic credit will not be eligible to receive this stipend. Interns are also responsible for their own housing, food, and transportation. Additional information on housing and transportation in the District of Columbia and Northern Virginia will be provided with notification of an internship.

We appreciate your interest in an internship. Again, please submit the internship application, a cover letter and resume by the deadline. Applications will be reviewed and we will notify those chosen to participate. If you need further information, please do not hesitate to contact our office by calling (202) 224-4343.
