Udall Calls on Senate to Support Made-in-America Jobs, End Tax Breaks for Outsourcing
Mark Udall called on his colleagues in the U.S. Senate to quickly pass legislation he introduced earlier this week to support U.S. companies that create and preserve Made-in-America jobs. The Bring Jobs Home Act would close a tax loophole for companies that ship jobs overseas and instead provide a tax credit to companies that bring jobs back to the United States and strengthen local economies. Udall is a longtime supporter of the Bring Jobs Home Act, which was blocked by partisan obstruction in the past session of Congress.
"We ought to be discouraging outsourcing and instead rewarding companies that restore and create new Made-in-America jobs — and this common-sense bill does just that," Udall said. "This legislation puts Americans back to work, keeps Made-in-America jobs on our shores and ensures taxpayer dollars don’t get wasted sending jobs overseas. It’s a win-win-win for Colorado workers and our economy."
The Bring Jobs Home Act would:
- Prohibit companies from using taxpayer subsidies to move employees or operations overseas; and,
- Provide a 20 percent tax credit for companies that actively bring overseas jobs back to the United States.
Udall was a supporter of the Bring Jobs Home Act when it was introduced in 2012, decrying minority obstruction that prevented it from passing.
