Military

As we continue our withdrawal from Afghanistan and start the strategic pivot toward the Asia-Pacific region, Hawaii with its strategic location and as home of the U.S. Pacific Command, will play a significant role in the implementation of this strategy. The active duty, National Guard, reserve forces, and DoD civilians who call Hawaii home will continue to play a major role in the stability and security of this region.

Our military is the most capable fighting force in the world and Hawaii is home to many soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines. I will work tirelessly to ensure that the men and women of our armed forces have the training and equipment they need to accomplish their missions.

The men and women of our military serve our country proudly and have given so much in defense of our freedom and our way of life. I will continue to work to ensure that they receive adequate pay as well as the benefits they have earned and deserve. This includes educational benefits that can be used to help ensure a smooth transition from military to civilian life.
