Infrastructure

From building canals and railways, to the Interstate Highway System and our air transportation network, America has always led when it comes to quality transportation infrastructure. These vital systems have helped to move people and goods quickly, efficiently, and safely for over a century, helping us become the world’s economic superpower.

Investing in infrastructure isn’t just good for commerce; it is also good for workers and communities. Every $1 billion spent on infrastructure translates into approximately 35,000 well-paying jobs, as well as safer, better maintained towns, cities, and counties. Enhancing the quality of our transportation systems, while also investing in public transportation and alternatives like bike lanes and walking paths, helps to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels and gives people of all ages and incomes more options for getting to work, school, and cultural or entertainment activities.

These are investments that create jobs now, and support our economy for years to come. I will continue to support federal investments in Hawaii’s airports, public transit systems, ports, and highways.
