Title X

Title X funding serves nearly five million low-income women and men at more than 4,500 health centers each year. This funding is used for cancer screenings, annual exams, birth control, and other preventive health care services.

Senator Gillibrand believes in commonsense solutions to reduce the number of abortions, such as continuing to support access to medically accurate sex education and affordable contraception through continued support of the Title X reproductive health program. By investing in preventive care, diagnoses can be made early, which saves lives and health care expenditures. The Blunt Amendment

The Blunt amendment would have allowed employers and health plans to cite religious beliefs or moral convictions as a reason to withhold coverage of certain medical services. If enacted, this amendment would have had a wider scope than expected and possibly affected access to treatment for a range of medical conditions. Senator Gillibrand was a vocal opponent of this measure, voted against it, and helped ensure its failure in the Senate. She will continue to fight against attempts at restricting access to health care.
