Order & Pay Online

You may still mail orders to my office using the downloadable pdf form below. Physical checks should be made out to: The Keeper of the Stationery.

My office can help you purchase flags that were flown over the U.S. Capitol. You may specify a special occasion like birthday or anniversary or a certain date for the flag to be flown on when requesting the flag. Size and price information is listed below. For more information, please review the Frequently Asked Questions below, or contact  the Flag Coordinator in my Washington, DC, office.

To order a flag, please download the Flag Request Order Form (PDF/70 KB). Complete the form and follow the instructions to mail it to my office along with your payment.  My office must pay for flags before they can be flown, so complete payment must accompany your request before your flag order can be processed.

The Congressional Research Service (CRS) has put together a comprehensive report that deals with the protocol for use, display, handling and disposal of the U.S. flag. To read the report, please download The United States Flag: Federal Law Relating to Display and Associated Questions (PDF/93 KB).

Frequently Asked Questions

To obtain a flag that has been flown over the U.S. Capitol, please complete a flag request form, which is available online (PDF format) , or contact any of my offices. Mail the completed form along with payment; the check or money order should be made payable to The Keeper of the Stationery. Send to:

Office of Senator Mike Crapo

239 Dirksen Senate Office Building
Washington, DC 20510

The process takes six to eight weeks.

We now offer an electronic payment option for purchasing flags online through pay.gov. If you would like to pay with a credit card, checking account or PayPal account, please use this link to pay online. You may still mail orders to my office using the pdf form above. Physical payments are only accepted via check or money order and should be made out to: The Keeper of the Stationery. (Cash should not be sent as Senate mail undergoes an irradiation and off-site inspection prior to delivery)

The flags are either nylon or cotton. For outdoor use, nylon is recommended because it is more durable than cotton. Three sizes are available: 3x5, 4x6 and 5x8.

The flags are flown each day by staff from the Architect of the Capitol's office. You will receive a certificate along with the flag that indicates it has been flown over the U.S. Capitol.

You can order a flag and have it flown without a special occasion. There are many people who request flags be flown for a particular occasion like an anniversary, a birthday, a retirement, but that is not necessary. There is no additional charge for marking a special occasion. If you wish to have a flag flown on a certain day, please provide enough notice that we are able to process the request in time to meet that requirement.

Please contact the Flag Coordinator in the Washington, DC, office, (202) 224-6142, for assistance with determining the status of your request. If you have requested a specific date, that can sometimes result in delays. Also, if your payment was made out incorrectly, that would also create a delay.

Mail sent to addresses on Capitol Hill will experience a short delay in delivery (possibly up to three days), but it will still be delivered. There are no restrictions on sending mail from Capitol Hill, so any delays that may happen to your flag are the result of other factors, i.e. the number of flag requests, incorrect information on payment, specific date requests. If you have questions, please contact my Washington, DC, office.

You can purchase a flag without having it flown over the Capitol. It costs about $5 less (please see the Flag Price List for exact price information), and it may take less time. Flags that are not flown over the Capitol are purchased and shipped directly to the purchaser. Flags that are flown are purchased, sent to the Architect's Office, flown over the Capitol, and then sent to the purchaser. The volume of flags being flown may result in a delivery delay.
