Appropriations Committee

Senator Coons was appointed to the influential Senate Appropriations Committee in June 2013, bolstering his ability to focus federal spending on investments that will protect families, support job growth, and strengthen communities.

"The Appropriations Committee offers a unique opportunity to make a difference for Delawareans on an extraordinary range of issues, and to ensure that the federal government is making the wisest, most efficient investments in our future," Senator Coons said. "My priorities on Appropriations will be consistent with my work in the Senate so far — helping businesses grow and create jobs; supporting innovative research; giving law enforcement the tools to keep our communities safe; and building a circle of protection around the most vulnerable in our society. I am excited to join Chairwoman Mikulski and Vice Chairman Shelby on the committee, and grateful to Leader Reid for his confidence in my ability to make a difference here."

He  serves on the following five subcommittees:

FY2015 Appropriations

The President’s Fiscal Year 2015 budget was recently released, and the discretionary programs fall within the jurisdiction of the Appropriations Committee’s examination.  At a time of tight budgets and tough fiscal choices, Chris believes that our national priorities must remain focused on and strengthen America’s priorities.  This means ensuring that key functions from defense, manufacturing, law enforcement, innovation, workforce development, low-income families, health care, and much more are adequately funded while still making significant progress toward reducing our deficits and long-term debt.  He knows that federal programs have an impact on individuals, families, companies, non-profits, and other entities across Delaware in many different ways.  As a part of his service, he welcomes the input from Delawareans on federal programs and activities as a part of his oversight of the federal budget on this important Senate committee.

If you would like to provide input on federal programs for the Fiscal Year 2015, you will find below a link to a form you can completed.
