Discussion convened experts on the economy from both academia and business organizations

WASHINGTON, D.C. –U.S. Senator Mark Begich (AK), Chairman of the Senate Democratic Steering and Outreach Committee and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (NV) joined nearly a dozen economists from the public and private sectors to discuss innovative ways to continue to create jobs and strengthen the economy.

“As policymakers we must remain focused on innovative solutions to advance our nation’s economy,” said Senator Begich. This is why I was pleased to host some of the most respected economic minds to discuss ways to create jobs for the 21st century and lay out a strong economic foundation for future generations to come. Creating jobs is a top priority for me and I look forward to continuing the discussion with today’s guests and my colleagues on both sides of the aisle.”

Throughout the discussion Senate Democrats highlighted their long-standing commitment to boost the economy by investing in infrastructure, education, and fostering an environment for businesses to grow and succeed. Over the last 42 months, the private sector has created more than 7.5 million jobs.
