Washington, D.C. – Today, Senator Mark Begich (AK), Chairman of the Democratic Steering and Outreach Committee, Senator Chris Coons (DE), Chairman of Business Outreach, and Majority Leader Harry Reid (NV) hosted a roundtable discussion with CEOs from leading trade associations representing a wide range of industries including energy, financial services, tech, and hospitality.

“As Congress leaves for the August State work period, we need to stay focused on working together on policies to put more Americans back to work”, said Sen. Begich. “Today’s dialogue allowed me to hear perspectives from top industry leaders on ways we can help businesses compete in a global economy and  ideas to improve the nation’s economic situation.”

The hour-long meeting was held at the United States Capitol and gave the business community a chance to discuss the most important issues facing their industries. They discussed a myriad of legislative proposals–from tax reform to trade agreements–and delved into how these bills impact their member companies and the overall economy.

“Trade association leaders offer unique insight into the common needs of their membership, encompassing some of our nation’s leading industries,” Senator Coons said. “The ideas discussed today will help us identify new opportunities to spur business growth, increase competitiveness, and create jobs across the most important sectors of our economy. I look forward to continuing to work with trade association leaders to advance policies that will benefit their members and strengthen our economy.”
