Congressman Peterson and USDA Secretary Vilsack announce $50 million for water retention in the RRV

On Wednesday, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack joined Congressman Collin Peterson in Moorhead to announce targeted conservation funding of up to $50 million over the next five years in the Red River of the North Basin to minimize flooding, boost soil health, improve water quality and enhance wildlife habitat in the watershed. With this historic effort, the Red River Valley will finally get the chance to get some retention projects on the ground.

Red River Valley designated as part of new conservation program

Congressman Collin C. Peterson announced that the Red River Valley of the North was named as part of the Prairie Grasslands Critical Conservation Area under USDA's Regional Conservation Partnership Program (RCPP). The RCPP will allow USDA to partner with third parties or work directly with producers in watersheds and other critical conservation areas.

Peterson hosts UAS meeting in Thief River Falls

U.S. Rep. Collin Peterson, in conjunction with Northland Community and Technical College, hosted a meeting about Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) on Tuesday, April 15, at the Northland aerospace site located at the Thief River Falls airport. The meeting included a tour and presentation of Northland's aerospace programs, an overview of the Northern Plains Unmanned Aircraft Systems Test Site, and discussion on how regional leaders can identify opportunities in the UAS field that can benefit the region as a whole.
