Sheridan Press: Wyoming's Legislators Renew Vows to Constitution

By Chris Foy

January 3, 2013

After the 113th Congress met for the first time with all its new members Thursday, some of Wyoming's legislators issued statements on the significance of being sworn in once again.

Senators John Barrasso and Mike Enzi, as well as U.S. Representative Cynthia Lummis were some of the many who renewed their vows to defend the Constitution.

Senator Barrasso says in a media release he's honored to represent the people of Wyoming in the U.S. Senate for six more years. Going forward, Barrasso says his focus will be on cutting spending, lowering taxes, reducing red tape and strengthening the state's energy security.

Barrasso also says he looks forward to working with Senator Enzi and Representative Lummis, stating they continue to stand up for Wyoming’s ideas and values in Washington D.C.

Lummis says in another media release that she's humbled to serve the Cowboy State in another term, but that Congress certainly has their work cut out for them.

She says our country has parted ways with fiscal sanity and that Congress, with all its fresh faces, has an opportunity to protect Wyoming from what she calls a mountain of federal regulations - and politics - that are crushing the state's energy industry.
