Internships

Congressman Ted Deutch and spring 2012 interns
smile for a picture.

Interns in the district office often accompany
staff to community events with the Congressman.

Thank you for your interest in interning with Congressman Ted Deutch. The office welcomes applications from students in college, law school, graduate school, or in some instances, senior year of high school. While all positions are unpaid, the office can help arrange for academic credit. Internships are available in the Congressman's Washington, DC office and his district headquarters in Boca Raton, FL. *Interns are responsible for all housing and travel related costs.

Due to the overwhelming number of applications, internships with Congressman Deutch are competitive. Applicants are expected to have an interest in the political process, exceptional writing skills, and a professional demeanor and attire. In the district headquarters, interns assist constituent representatives with federal casework, attend town hall meetings and other events, and learn firsthand how a congressional office interacts with the local community. In Washington, interns assist staff by conducting research, writing constituent letters on an array of policy issues, attending briefings and hearings, and administrative tasks such as sorting mail and answering phones. Both experiences provide valuable knowledge of the inner workings of a congressional office.
