Congressman McDermott, I just wanted to say thank you for being part of the Childhood Cancer Caucus. As the parent of a child who has cancer, it's important to me that the federal government step up to fund research where the pharmaceutical companies have nothing to gain by doing so (too small of a patient population). Please share your thoughts with your peers in the House and Senate. For more information about pediatric cancer statistics, they can go to www.thetruth365.org Thank you again for your support.

There is an unprecedented threat barreling down on America’s economy that will soon impact every American household. It is the expiration of decade-old tax breaks and the implementation of new taxes, all hitting on the same day—January 1, 2013. Because of the devastation this will wreak on family budgets, these tax hikes have been dubbed “Taxmageddon.” Taxmageddon will result in an average tax increase of $3,800 per American household, with 70 percent of the impact falling directly on low-income and middle-income families! With the longest stretch of high unemployment since the Great Depression, American families cannot afford further strain on their household budgets. Even Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke has sounded the alarm, referring to this perfect storm of tax hikes and runaway spending as a “massive fiscal cliff.” The tax breaks that families and businesses have come to expect and have calculated into their budgets are in jeopardy. You must prevent these tax hikes and protect American families’ hard-earned money. Until you act, the American economy will be stuck in neutral, derailed by inaction. Cut Now. The combination of insatiable spending and limitless borrowing is placing a massive drag on the economy that no amount of tax increases could ever remedy. Until spending is brought under control, economic recovery will always remain anemic. The Heritage Foundation has offered up a common sense plan, Saving the American Dream, which offers practical solutions to fix the debt, cut spending, and restore prosperity. There is no more time or money to waste. I urge you to act boldly on behalf of American families and businesses and stop Taxmageddon. Our very livelihoods depend on your swift action.

Jennifer Foster of Florence, AZ was visiting Times Square with her husband Nov. 14 when they saw a shoeless man asking for change. She writes, “Right when I was about to approach, one of your officers came up behind him. The officer said, ‘...
I have these size 12 boots for you, they are all-weather. Let’s put them on and take care of you.’ The officer squatted down on the ground and proceeded to put socks and the new boots on this man. The officer expected NOTHING in return and did not know I was watching*. I have been in law enforcement for 17 years. I was never so impressed in my life. I did not get the officer’s name. It is important, I think, for all of us to remember the real reason we are in this line of work. The reminder this officer gave to our profession in his presentation of human kindness has not been lost on myself or any of the Arizona law enforcement officials with whom this story has been shared.”
Our thanks to the Fosters for their attention and appreciation, and especially to this officer, who remains anonymous.

NBC News featured stunning, new UW research to treat pain among wounded soldiers WITHOUT drugs. Please watch/share this video.
