Internships

alt

Interns in Jim’s DC office assist in a wide range of activities, including helping staff members with projects, responding to constituents' requests, attending congressional hearings, and handling general office duties. In the Seattle office, interns help out with general office duties, accompany staff members at district meetings, and help staff as they assist local residents in resolving problems they are having with the federal government. In both offices, interns see and play a role in the daily operations of a congressional office, which is an invaluable experience.

DC office internships are available during the fall, spring, and summer months of the year.  In Seattle, internships are available on a rolling basis throughout the year. It is important that you apply early as there are generally more applicants than available positions. Both college students and recent graduates are eligible for DC internships. Seattle office internships are offered only to currently enrolled students. Those interested in applying for an internship should submit the following information as a complete packet:

  1. Cover letter explaining your interest;

  2. A current resume including 2 references; and,

  3. The year and school term or the dates you would like to intern.

Upon completing the application packet, please e-mail, fax or mail the packet to the appropriate person listed below at the office in which you would like to intern:
