Federal Disaster Recovery Programs

The residents and businesses of NYC qualify for federal aid due to Hurricane Sandy.  You must register with FEMA in order to receive aid.  There are 3 ways to register:
1.  Call 1-800-621-FEMA (3362)
2.  Register on line at www.disasterassistance.gov
3.  Go to a Recovery Center - these are being set up and locations have not been announced.
(Calling is the most effective.  You might have to wait, but the person you talk with can give you more information.)
FIRST, check with your insurance company to determine what your insurance will cover.  If the damages are covered by insurance, then you must make an insurance claim.  FEMA will not cover these expenses.
