Transportation Authorization Requests

On behalf of the Third Congressional District, I have submitted the following list of project funding requests for the upcoming transportation reauthorization bill:

Dear Chairman Oberstar and Ranking Member Mica:

Please find the following list of High Priority Project (HPP) requests. As you consider HPP requests for the upcoming surface transportation authorization legislation, I respectfully request that you consider inclusion of the following projects:

• Design and construct the Blackstone River Bikeway between Providence, RI and Worcester, MA. $2,400,000

• Design and reconstruction of Route 109/Main Street from the Medway-Millis, MA town line to the Medway-Milford, MA town line. $9,383,000

• Planning, environmental review, alternative analysis, design/engineering, development, reconstruction, and installation activities for a bus transfer facility at Union Station in Worcester, MA. $7,809,479

• Design, permitting, reconstruction and extension of Boundary Street from Goddard Road in Northborough, MA, to U.S. Route 20 in
Marlborough, MA. $4,000,000


• Planning, Design, and Engineering for the I-495/Route 9 Interchange, Westborough, MA. $80,000,000

• Design, develop, and construction for the South Coast Rail project to restore passenger rail service to the cities of Taunton, Fall River, and New Bedford,
MA. $5,000,000


• Plan, design and construct transportation facilities on or adjacent to the rail line between Worcester and North Station via Ayer, Massachusetts that will facilitate rail transportation along this corridor. $93,000,000

• Plan, design, and environmental documentation for a proposed roadway that will connect the City of Worcester, MA with its western suburbs more efficiently with major arteries including the interstate highway system. $13,600,000


• Installation of a coordinated traffic signal system and roadway reconstruction from the northern terminus of State Route 146 to the Worcester Central Business District, Worcester, MA. $6,132,520

• Reconstruction of portions of Interstate 290 in the area of Exit 11 and Southbridge Street in the area of College Street to realign ramp systems and create two way traffic on Southbridge Street, Worcester, MA. $6,200,000

• Implementation of Phase IA and IB for the Attleboro Intermodal Mixed-Use Transportation Center. $2,000,000
