Service Academy Nominations

One of my most satisfying duties is to nominate outstanding young people from the 3rd Congressional District to service academies. Each year, I'm proud to nominate several students to the U.S. Military Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy, the U.S. Naval Academy, and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.

The Academies:

There are five United States Service Academies: the U.S. Military Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy, the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, and the Coast Guard Academies. Nominations required for all but the Coast Guard, to which appointments are made on the basis of an annual nationwide competition.

Who is Eligible?

An applicant for nomination must meet the following eligibility requirements as of July 1 of the year of admission to a service academy: He or she must be at least 17 years old, but not have passed the 23rd birthday, must be a United States citizen, and must be unmarried, not pregnant, and have no legal obligation to support children or other dependents.

The Process:

To begin the nomination process, please download a Military Service Academy Questionnaire or contact Maria DeCoste in the Fall River District Office at 508-677-0140.

Please note that you must start an application process with the academy you are applying to, in addition to the nomination process through my office.
