Chaffetz, Gowdy Raise Concerns over New Powers Granted to NCTC

Dec 17, 2012

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressmen Jason Chaffetz (UT-03) and Trey Gowdy (SC-04) sent a letter to U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder expressing concerns over new powers granted to the National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC) to store dossiers on U.S. citizens, even if those citizens are not suspected of any criminal activity. The lawmakers are concerned that fundamental changes would be made to existing policy without public input and Congressional approval.
