Chaffetz Announces New District Director

Dec 7, 2012

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) announced the hiring of Wade Garrett as his new District Director. Garrett will replace Dell Smith, who recently accepted a position with Congressman-elect Chris Stewart.

Garrett was born and raised in Nephi, UT. For the past four years he has served as a policy advisor to Chaffetz, specializing in public lands and rural area issues. He holds an associate’s degree from Snow College, and bachelor’s degree from Utah State University. Prior to joining Chaffetz’ staff, Garrett worked at the Juab County mining company for ten years. He serves on the State Farm Bureau Young Farmer and Rancher Committee which has allowed him hands-on experience with ranching, mining, farming, and other issues that impact rural counties. Garrett currently resides in Nephi with his wife and four children.

“Wade has effectively served the people of Utah on my staff for four years. He has a tremendous understanding of Utah’s rural counties,” said Chaffetz. “I have full confidence that he will continue his dedicated service as District Director as we transition in to our new district.”

Garrett is based in Chaffetz’ Provo district office and will frequently travel throughout the district.
