Ways Greg Can Help

Art Competition

Every year, members of Congress hold a nationwide art competition called "An Artistic Discovery." Each high school student in Oregon's Second Congressional District is invited to compete for the chance to have his or her artwork displayed in the United States Capitol in Washington, D.C. I hope you will consider encouraging students you know to participate.

While entry for the 2012 competition has closed, students interested in the Second District competition should check back at this page in early 2013. To enter the contest, students should submit no more than two photographs of their artwork, and the Student Information & Release Form, to my office. You may either email photos (JPEG format), along with the student's name, address, and school, or send photos via U.S. mail to my Medford office:

Congressman Greg Walden
Congressional Art Competition
843 E. Main St., Suite 400
Medford, OR 97504
(800) 533-3303

One finalist will be chosen by a panel of judges who will select an overall winner and four runners-up. Students will be notified in May and the winning artwork will be sent to Washington, D.C. to be displayed as part of the national student art exhibition in the Cannon Tunnel, an underground pedestrian walkway leading to the United States Capitol used daily by Members of Congress, staff, and visitors. The four runners-up will have their artwork displayed in my offices in Bend, Medford, La Grande, or Washington, D.C. Artwork is returned at the completion of the annual exhibition.

Please contact Rep. Walden's Medford, OR office at (541) 776-4646 with any questions.
