    About
  1. I just spoke on the House floor as a co-sponsor in support of the Frank Buckles World War I Memorial Act. This bill would designate the National World War I Museum at Liberty Memorial in Kansas City as THE national memorial and monument honoring the men and women who served in the Great War. Thanks to my friend and colleague Representative Emanuel Cleaver II for his effort on this legislation. Click below to watch my remarks.
  2. I'd like to give a big congratulations to The University of Kansas Hospital for being recognized as an Advanced Comprehensive Stroke Center. It is the only hospital in the Midwest and one of five nationwide to receive the designation. Rock Chalk!

  9. 71 years ago today, the United States was attacked and resulted in the deaths of over two thousand servicemen and women. Those who perished are forever remembered in our hearts as patriots and heroes – a solemn inspiration to us all.

What our enemies in that War did not count on was the American resolve. Now, 70 years later, our enemies have become our friends and some of our staunchest allies. This would not have been possible without the service and sacrifice of our “Greatest Generation”. For this we owe a debt of gratitude that simply cannot be repaid.

e are fortunate to have access to some of the very best health care in the nation right here in Kansas City. Unfortunately, burdensome federal regulations and unnecessary paperwork requirements are forcing many providers to limit the care they can provide. I appreciate the honest feedback and suggestions for how to fix these issues. We will continue to work to increase access to quality health care.

  20. Earlier, I recorded a Holiday video greeting for our troops on the Pentagon Channel in the Cannon Rotunda. Members of Congress taped the holiday greetings to be played for the troops and will be broadcast worldwide. We can't say thank you enough for what these soldiers and their families do.

  21. Our nation is at a precipice. We find ourselves at this point after years of government neglect in addressing the fiscal challenges facing our nation. As the end of the year draws near, we have an opportunity to come together as a Congress to create long-term solutions to the challenges facing our country. Band-aid efforts will not work and will ultimately make our problems worse.
  22. As the fiscal cliff talks continue, what are you looking to see in an overall deal?

Thank you to those who attended - your input is important to me as I head back to Washington this week and work to find solutions to the looming tax and budget issues before the end of the year.
