WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Lee Terry (R-NE) today was selected as the House Energy and Commerce Committee’s Chairman of the Commerce, Manufacturing and Trade Subcommittee for the 113th Congress.

“I am honored to be named the new Subcommittee Chairman of Commerce, Manufacturing and Trade for the 113th Congress.  I am looking forward to working closer with my friend, Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton, and all of my subcommittee colleagues” stated Terry. “CMT has jurisdiction over many consumer issues and regulations which affect every American on a daily basis.  I will take my subcommittee chairmanship seriously and work hard to improve lives, promote safety and support job-creating trade agreements.”

The CMT Subcommittee has jurisdiction over a wide-range of interstate and foreign commerce issues; specifically, trade matters within committee jurisdiction; regulation of commercial practices and the Federal Trade Commission, including sports-related matters; data security; consumer affairs, protection and product safety; privacy matters; product liability; motor vehicles safety; and regulation of travel and tourism.

"With Lee Terry as the Chairman of the Commerce, Manufacturing, and Trade Subcommittee we will continue our efforts to help create good paying jobs and put folks back to work. Congressman Terry will be a great leader for supporting our manufacturing sector, improving consumer protections, and creating jobs in the next Congress,”said Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton.
