  1. Last night, I was pleased to be at the annual menorah lighting at the Rhode Island State House, wishing our Jewish friends a Happy Hanukkah.

    • A recent message that interests me has circulated concerning children of Congress members not having to pay back their college student loans. If this is a fact it seems self serving and something that should be addressed.

Congressman, here is what I am hoping for in the coming weeks: —the current tax rates on the middle class will be maintained —the Bush tax cuts on income over $250,000.00 will be allowed to expire —no cuts will be made to Medicare and Social Security Please do your part to make sure that this comes to pass. Thank you!

    •  Very honored to have been with foster youth and families the past two days listening to their stories, successes, challenges and recommendations for improvement in the foster care system. The New England stop of the Congressional Caucus on Foster Youth was truly educational. Thanks to my colleague Congressman Jim Langevin for hosting such an important visit. You Democrats better not let Obama screw up our medicare that we worked all our lives for. Obama is screwing up this country. It's a gimme gimme society now. They go to bed with the gimme's and wake up with the wants and never put a penny into the system. At least we did. That is all I have to say.

  4. A day to honor those lost at Pearl Harbor and the incredible heroism that followed due to the bravery of our greatest generation. Thank you to all of our WWII vets.
  5. I joined CNN's Anderson Cooper 360 last night to discuss the Senate's failure to ratify the UN disabilities treaty, and why we can't give up this human rights fight.
  6. "America is already ahead of the world on disability rights; it is time for the purveyors of paranoid politics to get out of the way, so it can continue to lead."
  7. The hypocrisy of Speaker Boehner saying Democrats haven't gotten serious about spending cuts. End wealthy's tax cuts and a deal will be done on the fiscal cliff.
  8. Confirmation of what many have long known. Congratulations to John Maeda and everyone at the Rhode Island School of Design. Well deserved.
  9. Wonderful parades the past two days in Wakefield and North Kingstown to honor our nation's heroes. Thank you to all who have served.
