Caucus Membership for 112th Congress Congressional Caucus for Women's Issues Mission: To focus on issues related to women including health, business, violence, education, and international issues that affect women of color, young women, and women currently or previously serving in the military. Congressional Crohn's and Colitis Caucus Mission: This new caucus will work to promote awareness of IBD, the need for expanded research at the National Institutes of Health and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the importance of accessible insurance and disability coverage for this vulnerable patient population. Congressional Diabetes Caucus Mission: To further progress toward a cure for the nearly 24 million Americans living with diabetes and improved prevention efforts for the additional 57 million with prediabetes. Congressional Down Syndrome Caucus Mission: To educate members of Congress and their staff about Down syndrome. The Caucus supports legislative activities that would improve Down syndrome research, education and treatment, and promote public policies that would enhance the quality of life for those with Down syndrome. Congressional Fragile X Caucus Mission: To promote awareness, improved research and more effective treatments for Fragile X syndrome. Congressional Hockey Caucus Mission: To help grow hockey participation and review the potential policy implications as they pertain to academics, health and wellness, and veteran's rehabilitation. Congressional LGBT Equality Caucus Mission: The mission of the Caucus is to work toward the extension of equal rights, the repeal of discriminatory laws, the elimination of hate-motivated violence, and the improved health and well being for all regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity/expression. Congressional Military Families Caucus Mission: To educate Congress on the pressing issues of military families. Congressional Nursing Caucus Mission: The Nursing Caucus will hold regular briefings on matters like the nursing shortage, health care practitioners and patient safety, Medicare and Medicaid, and other issues impacting nurses and patients. Congressional Travel & Tourism Caucus Mission: To recognize the importance of this industry to our economy and how it generates jobs and revenue in every Congressional District across the country. Congressional Trio Caucus Mission: To support the Federal TRIO Programs and higher education access for low-income, first-generation, and disabled students. It is the aim of the Caucus to generate support for TRIO programs from congressional offices, the U.S. Department of Education, and other entities and to expand awareness of the need for improving educational opportunities for all Americans. Congressional Turkish Caucus Mission: The goal of the Caucus is to promote the U.S.-Turkey bilateral relationship, given that Turkey is strategically located and is a friendly, secular, Muslim ally in the Middle East. Being on the caucus is really about an exchange of ideas and an opportunity to become more familiar not only with Turkey, but with the region as a whole. House Hunger Caucus Mission: To discuss, advance and engage the House's work on national and international hunger and food insecurity issues. The caucus will strive to bring awareness to hunger and food insecurity issues, while at the same time provide Members and staff a neutral place to collaborate on these issues. The caucus will provide an academic forum to discuss long term solutions to these problems and how social, economic, political, cultural, environmental and religious factors shape hunger and food insecurity. Out of Afghanistan Caucus Mission: The Out of Afghanistan Caucus will serve as an informal group dedicated to reorienting the United States' commitment to the Afghan government and people. Out of Poverty Caucus Mission: The COPC provides a forum where members can offer solutions, build support and bring together lawmakers, organizations, community leaders, and other key stakeholders to find concrete solutions to end poverty in America. Youth Drug Prevention Caucus Mission: Work towards the prevention of youth drug and alcohol use. Congressional Social Work Caucus Mission: The purpose of the CSWC is to create a platform on the Hill representing the interests of over 600,000 social workers throughout the United States who positively impact the lives of the elderly, the disadvantaged, children, veterans, or other individuals in need of guidance and direction in their lives.
