How Many Days Has It Been?
One of the major constitutional functions of the United States Senate is to take part in the budget process. Though House Republicans have approved a budget for the next fiscal year - which begins on October 1, 2011, the Senate Democrats have refused to pass a budget, let alone debate one. This marks the second year in a row in which Senate Democrats have abdicated their responsibility to pass a budget.
The Senate has not passed a budget since April 29, 2009.
