Today I met with Michelle Lee, the new director of the new Silicon Valley regional office of the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), to get an update on the process of establishing the office and finding a location to house it. This is an historic opportunity for both Silicon Valley and USPTO, as it will make dealing with patent issues easier for Silicon Valley inventors and help the patent o...ffice better understand how our region operates and enable it to incorporate that innovative spirit. Over the past few years, I have worked at my post on the Commerce, Justice, Science subcommittee on Appropriations to push the USPTO to establish an office in our region. Today’s meeting was a realization of these years of work by myself and my colleagues. I look forward to working with Director Lee in the future to see the new opportunities that this office will bring.See More
