U.S. Congressman Dan Webster | 8th District of Florida

Winter Garden, FL, Apr 6 - In a ceremony yesterday evening at Windermere Town Hall, U.S. Representative Daniel Webster (FL-08) announced the student winners from this year’s Congressional Art Competition. Ashley Bowersox from Dr. Phillips High School took home this year’s grand prize with her piece entitled “The Dream.”

“This year’s competition was a terrific way to recognize, encourage and showcase the artistic talent of Central Florida’s youth. I am pleased to congratulate Ashley and the Bowersox family for her interpretation of this year’s patriotic theme. It is my honor to extend thanks to the volunteer judges who had the difficult task of choosing this year’s winners as many of the pieces were extremely well done,” said Webster.

The Congressional Art Competition reception was held in the Windermere Town Hall yesterday evening and was attended by friends, family and members of the community. Ashley Bowersox from Dr. Phillips High School was selected as the grand prize winner. Ashley will have her artwork, titled “The Dream” displayed in the U.S. Capitol Building for one year, where it will be viewed by U.S. Congressional Representatives, staff, and visitors from around the country and world.

Ashley also received two round-trip tickets from Southwest Airlines to travel to Washington, DC for the national award ceremony.

The first place winner Erin McCollum, from Dr. Phillips High School, will have her work displayed in Congressman Webster’s Washington, DC office.

Second place winner, Daniel Arevaldo, from Edgewater High School, will have his piece displayed in Congressman’s District Office in Winter Garden, FL.

This year’s volunteer judge panel included Judi Tome, Kimberly Moseler, Tyler Hall, and Elizabeth Hornbeck.
