U.S. Congressman Dan Webster | 8th District of Florida

American Energy

The United States has relied on foreign energy for too long. We send significant sums of money overseas instead of responsibly developing our own natural resources. Because we have lagged in developing our own energy supplies, energy prices continue to climb steadily. High energy costs squelch our economy, cripple our small businesses, and burden American families’ budgets.

During these times of economic hardship, we should be investing in all types of energy advancement. This will enable us to alleviate our energy dependence, and will also help create jobs and keep energy costs low for American families. This is why I support an all-of-the-above approach to our nation’s energy needs. By investing in different types of energy, we bring our country much closer to energy independence. An all-of-the-above approach means that we would not only responsibly develop our own stores of oil and natural gas, but also push forward innovation and development of next generation power sources and fuels.
