After every war in modern U.S. history, our nation has honored our Veterans with parades, and now that the Iraq War has concluded, our community will have its first parade honoring post-9/11 Veterans this Saturday.

Dear Congressman! I am writing to you because I need your help and advice. I am Polish-born international press, radio and tv journalist based in Chicago. I am facing deportation because of my journalistic integrity and because of my sexual orientation. I am facing deportation for 2 reasons and 2 reasons only. I am being punished for my impeccable journalistic reliability and integrity. Back in 2009 I wrote breakthrough report on corruption that took place at the Consulate General of Republic in Poland in Chicago and informed Supreme Audit Office of Republic of Poland about the situation. Controllers from the Supreme Audit Office came and audit finances of the Consulate General and what I wrote has been confirmed and then some. During an interview at the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services office in Chicago I this conversation with officer looked as follows: - „I have a special permission to ask you this question. A very prominent member of the Polish community in Chicago informed us that you are homosexual. Mr. Widlak are you homosexual? - No, I am not. - Mr. Widlak I just would like to remind you that you are under oath. Are you homosexual? - No, I am not. - Mr. Widlak are you homosexual?!!! - No, I am not. I am bisexual. Because of doing a good job as a journalist somebody was overzealous and told lie about me just to cause me troubles. So because of that is the 2nd reason: I am facing deportation because of my sexual orientation, for being bisexual. I do not have any rights in this country, but my wife as citizen of the United States should have them. Now all her rights were and are actually violated! As U.S. Department of Justice stated in "Federal Protections Against National Origin Discrimination" quote: "Federal laws prohibit discrimination based on a person's national origin, race, color, religion, disability, sex, and familial status. Laws prohibiting national origin discrimination make it illegal to discriminate because of a person's birthplace, ancestry, culture or language. This means people cannot be denied equal opportunity because they or their family are from another country, because they have a name or accent associated with a national origin group, because they participate in certain customs associated with a national origin group, or because they are married to or associate with people of a certain national origin." Hell with me because I am nobody in this country, but what about my wife's right? United States Department of Homeland security is breaking human right. I do not comprehend how one government agency can break other government agency rules! Is this a Land of Freedom? Is this a home of the brave? Are you going to be brave enough to voice your opinion on this matter? On December 20th I will stand in from of the Immigration Judge... Mike! I need you help! Do you think you can help me?

  3. Today on the House Floor, Democrats are urging House Republicans to allow the House to vote on extending tax cuts for middle class families and small businesses. Congress can't wait to do the right thing and must protect the middle class now while fiscal cliff negotiations continue.

  10. SOUND OFF: If Congress doesn't act before the end of the year, all Bush-era tax cuts will expire and automatic federal spending cuts will go into effect through a process known as sequestration. Independent experts agree that this combination would be very damaging to our economic recovery. As Congress continues negotiating to avoid the “fiscal cliff,” what actions do you think we should take? Should we extend tax cuts for the top 2% or only those making less than $250,000? Are there federal programs you believe should be cut?
